Understanding chronic fatigue through the language of the nervous system, trauma and the mind, body and spirit connection.

Listening to the Body: A Transpersonal Perspective on ME/CFS

Join us in exploring a holistic approach to ME/CFS, where we delve into the intricate connections between mind, body, and spirit. This series invites therapists to gain a deeper understanding of chronic fatigue through the lens of transpersonal hypno-psychotherapy.

A Deeper Understanding of ME/CFS

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, or more commonly, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is often approached through a purely medical or psychological lens. Yet many therapists and clients alike, sense that something essential is being overlooked.

In these series of talks, we explore the condition through an integrative, body-centred and spiritually informed perspective.

ME/CFS frequently reflects a system that has moved into long-term protection. Trauma held in the body, early patterns of adaptation within the family system, and the disconnection between mind and bodily signals play a profound role in this process. This is why the mechanistic approach of modern medicine finds this condition a mystery.

While conventional therapeutic models may address cognition, behaviour or symptom management, the spiritual dimension of illness is rarely considered. Yet for many people living with ME/CFS, questions of meaning, identity, purpose and inner alignment become increasingly essential to the healing journey.

These talks invite therapists to explore:

• how experience and trauma become embedded in the body • the adaptive patterns formed in early family environments • the loss of dialogue between mind and body • how a spiritual perspective can deepen therapeutic understanding • and how to deepen your ease and ability to remain present as a therapist within unfamiliar or uncomfortable emotional territory

My work is not a quick-fix model. Rather it is a thoughtful exploration of what may lie beneath the condition — and how therapists can accompany clients with greater depth, sensitivity and awareness.

Chronic fatigue is often approached through symptoms and management strategies, yet beneath the exhaustion there can be long-standing patterns held within the body that remain outside the awareness of the conscious mind. These patterns may reflect ways a person has adapted, protected themselves, or learned to navigate earlier experiences. In this session we will explore how therapists can begin to recognise and work with these deeper layers, helping clients gradually discover the unconscious patterns that may be shaping their experience of illness. Participants will:

  • Consider how chronic fatigue may reflect deeper patterns held within the body and psyche • Explore how unconscious adaptations can remain hidden from the client’s conscious awareness • Reflect on ways therapists can support clients in discovering and understanding these underlying patterns

Online Seminar: Working at Depth with ME/CFS: A Spiritual Perspective for Hypno-psychotherapists

March 27th, 2026
Discover the profound impact of trauma held within the body and its connection to ME/CFS.

Participants will:

  • Recognise the role of trauma stored within the body in chronic conditions
  • Understand body-based therapeutic approaches when working with ME/CFS
  • Explore the body’s innate capacity for healing and integration

Deepening Understanding

About the Presenter - Jenny Lynn

For over 25 years, Jenny Lynn has worked with people living with ME/CFS and other chronic illnesses, developing a depth-oriented therapeutic perspective that integrates psychological, somatic, and spiritual understanding.
“Healer, heal thyself” has been a guiding thread throughout my life for more than 25 years. Through continually deepening my own awareness and consciousness, I have been able to keep my work alive, responsive and rooted in genuine enquiry. Learning to meet and heal our own wounds opens the way for us to truly support others. My own journey began in a traumatised and dysfunctional family and continued through university and a schizophrenic episode at the age of 23. Now at 62, with over 40 years of Buddhist practice, I understand the relationship between mind, body and spirit through a deeply psycho-spiritual perspective. After first training as a teacher, I later retrained as a hypno-psychotherapist in my mid-thirties. Early in my practice a GP referred several clients living with ME/CFS. As I worked with them, I began to notice recurring patterns: that fatigue and pain were often expressions of deeper emotional and psychological adaptations held within the body. This insight became the foundation of my work. I went on to develop a training for therapists called Unlocking the Mysteries of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which I taught for many years, alongside other CPD programmes for practitioners. Today I continue to work with people living with ME/CFS and other chronic illness through my one-to-one work, a 10-week programme, and ongoing monthly support groups. These talks and the four-day retreat invite therapists to explore a deeper understanding of mind-body healing and reconnect with the authentic heart of therapeutic practice.
